Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 10/27/2021, Dr. Augustine has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Doctor Augustine provides a peaceful personable bedside manner which exemplifies the Cleveland Clinic spirit. He's a great listener, strong patient advocate, communicator, and empathetic to the concern of his patients (especially me and my 92-year-old dad). He is always prepared and elaborates helpful tips and perspectives to help us meet our patient needs. Whether that means helping/supporting to navigate the health care system by finding specialists or acquiring the prescriptions or laboratory tests we need. This Medical Practice Telemedicine Virtual visit experience was awesome aligned with general outpatient in house visits.

Dr. Augustine listens more carefully than almost any physician I have seen in the past 6 decades.

Dr. Augustine is very professional and knowledgeable. He is very responsive when I have contacted him on MyChart with questions and/or concerns. He is always more than willing to help. I am very grateful that we are making positive progress with my medical problems.

I felt it could have gone better. Dr Augustine was trying to scare me and say I am at risk for kidney transplants and liver transplant. I am like how can u know that from just a pee test? He asked me if I had kidney stones. I said no. I later looked up online that if pee was red or pink I could be suspected to have kidney stones. But actually I was having my period. They didn't ask if there was a reason for red pee? Goodness I felt so none interaction from Dr Augustine.
