Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 11/30/2020, Dr. Rafferty has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. When Dr. Rafferty was on vacation I had called and sent messages a few times and no one would prescribe my medication when I ran out. Dr.Rafferty made a telehealth appointment with me and handled that immediately. He listens and actually cares, I would recommend him highly.

Dr Rafferty knows I have always been an active, vibrant and positive person. He could see that my physical decline has overshadowed that and gave me the path of help I need! I am grateful to him for that!

I became a patient here of Dr. Sassano because for years was so unhappy with the care of my previous doctor. Best decision ever in coming to Stow Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Rafferty was so caring, considerate and concerned from the moment he stepped in the examining room. I had been a little worried about seeing someone other than Dr. Sassano who I was unable to get an appointment with.

After seeing Dr. Sassano I was so impressed that I've recommended him to everyone. Now after seeing Dr. Rafferty for a same day appointment, I sing the praises of your entire Clinic. Plus, the help and concern shown when checking in at the kiosk was so appreciated.

*Dr. Rafferty seemed rushed & unconcerned re: my ongoing depression & elevated A1C. He suggested putting me on a bipolar med which I don't have bipolar!

I went in for a full assessment of my health and left with a prescription for ambien. I'm switching doctors as soon as possible. I go to the doctor once every 2-5 years and I had some issues and nothing was addressed and no long-term problems were discussed, just a quick "here's a prescription for that" and boom. It was so disappointing and cleveland clinic ruined this area.
