Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 12/21/2017, Dr. Kohara has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Dr Kohara is an outstanding physician whom I recommend to friends and family. His level of care and bedside manner are outstanding. In this technology intermediated healthcare landscape, it's nice to know that once I make it past the computers and into the office, I can count on Dr Kohara to be human, attentive, sincere and help me make informed, smart decisions about my health.

since switching to this new facility I have been very disappointed at the ability to get an appointment when I have something wrong. I have a PCP for a reason so being told there is a month plus wait is unacceptable. It is also unacceptable to be told to go to an urgent care rather than getting into MY dr. this was never the case before the change and it is very upsetting. I know many people that use these Dr's and many have left for this very reason. I have a history with Dr Kohara and want to be treated by him. I know CCF is very good at saying we have Dr's and feel any dr is ok to see and it's not.

*Dr. Kohara is very personable and easy to talk to. Makes you very at ease with any concerns.

Dr Kohara provides excellent care! My only concern is that, I have difficulties scheduling an appointment when I am sick and have instead scheduled an apppintment with TeleDoc to be seen immediately. Also when I scheduled my yearly physical, I had to wait almost a month to be seen.

Love *Dr. Kohara! He is the best. The only problem is you have to make an appointment 2 months before you want to see him. This makes it hard to see him when you're sick. I would love to be able to see him more often.

Dr. Kohara was excellent. He listened, he suggested, he offered options, and he was completely on the same page with me regarding my health choices.

I am very sensitive to drug side effects and Dr. kohara is very good at working with me

Reviewed on May 7, 2018

Dr. Kohara has always been an outstanding doctor. He has taken care of me since he first joined Falls Family Practice, and now sees my husband and our two children. If he ever left I would follow him to any practice across America because he truly cares about the health and well being of myself and my family.

Again Dr Kohara is great but this new scheduling is absolutely ridiculous. wWe should not have to wait weeks to be able to see our Dr.
