Biography

About Cecile Foshee, PhD

Dr. Cecile Foshee serves as the Director of the Office of Interprofessional Learning (OIPL) and the Master of Education in Health Professions Education Program, a joint initiative between Cleveland Clinic and Cleveland State University. She also holds the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. With a PhD in Educational Technology from Arizona State University and a postdoctoral fellowship in Medical Education from Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Foshee's career has centered on bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in health professions education.

Professional Highlights

  • Her scholarly work includes numerous journal publications that explore innovative approaches to interprofessional education, medical learning technologies, and curriculum development in health professions. In addition, she has led multiple large-scale educational grants, such as the Pfizer-funded project aimed at optimizing the care of COVID-19 patients and the Moderna-funded RSV initiative to improve patient outcomes through education using differentiated learning pathways. With her extensive expertise in curriculum design, faculty development, and interprofessional learning, Dr. Foshee remains committed to fostering environments that promote collaboration, trust, and high impact learning among healthcare teams.

  • As Director of OIPL, she leads initiatives to enhance collaboration and improve patient outcomes across health professions. She has been instrumental in creating and implementing educational programs such as SMiLE (Strengthening Minds by Leveraging Education) and BOOST (Building Optimal Outcomes by Strengthening Team Trust), both of which focus on fostering interprofessional collaboration and team effectiveness in clinical settings.

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education.
