A. George Hawwa, MD, is a cardiologist in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. His primary practice location is at the Mayfield Heights HVTI office. Dr. Hawwa is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease and is a Senior Clinical Instructor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Hawwa earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon. He completed an internship and residency there followed by a two-year fellowship in cardiology at University Hospitals (UH) of Cleveland.
Dr. Hawwa joined the Cleveland Clinic staff in 2013 after more than 20 years in private practice with Cardiology Associates of Cleveland. He had been director of the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at UH Bedford Medical Center since 1996 and director of the Intensive Care Unit there since 2002. He also was affiliated with UH Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic Marymount, Hillcrest and South Pointe hospitals.
He has held a number of leadership positions with Cleveland-area hospitals, including director of Cardiovascular Diseases at St. Vincent Charity Hospital, director of the Coronary Care Unit and Step-Down Unit at St. Luke's Medical Center and president of the medical staff, chairman of the Medical Executive Committee and a trustee at UH Bedford Medical Center. From 1997 to 1999 Dr. Hawwa served on the board of the American Heart Association.
Dr. Hawwa is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Heart Association, American Society of Echocardiography, Arab-American Medical Association and the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.

while trying g to demonstrate motions I would do while having chest pains the dr would not even look at me even after a long pause waiting for him to look. he was buried face first in the computer typing in New meds. if I could rate this dr concerns or his listening lower than very poor i would. it was shitty. the worst. I waited 6 months to see this dr. I will be finding a new cardiologist.

It is a unique experience to have my exam taken over the phone. However the experience was a good one. It progressed just as it would have in the office. I was able to ask my questions and receive answers which were easy to understand. I feel fortunate to have Dr. Hawwa as my cardiologist.
