Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 11/30/2020, Dr. DeBarr has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. During my visit the care I received was fine but when I attempted to contact the doctor following my appointment with concerns I had difficulties. I was able to reach someone at the office and explain mt concern with my symptoms but never received a call back.

Getting the appt was easy- but the appt itself was a waste of time. More pain during and after the appt than before- and the Dr didn't even address one of the issues. Have a large painful bunion on my foot- told Dr.about it - and was ignored.

Reviewed on Jul 19, 2021

Told the Dr about 2 ingrown nails and a bunion and the pain felt in large toe on rt foot- she very painfully trimmed the nails on the ingrown toes, ignored the bunion and the pain felt in moving the toe. Gave suggestion for a procedure to trim nails further- but I have no desire to return to this Dr.

I'm diabetic and on a blood thinner which the doctor was aware she cut my nails if you could say that. out of ten toes five were bleeding I let her know that she was hurting my toes but she kept cutting. then she proceeded to use the stick to stop the bleeding so she was hurting me all over again. I was asking her about my heels as well she just told me to put Preporaton H on them she didn't even look at them. I was so disappointed in the office visit. she dug and cut my toe nails so deep. I know being diabetic that you cut them straight across not deep and close to the the toes. they were not ingrown or growing into the skin so there was no reason for her to cut them like she did
