Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 9/22/2020, Dr. Rockwood has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. This was literally the worst visit I've ever had. the doctor was dismissive, curt, and frankly, inept. He did not diagnose my issue properly. when asked for clarification on his explanation he said as I've already told you'. I could see he was frustrated that I did not understand. He said to get over the counter eye drops and discourteously walked out of the room. I have literally never ever been treated this way. I wasn't sure if I should stay where I was or wait for an assistant. but since I garnered no new information from the appointment I figured I may as well just leave. I have been in contact with a researcher in Indiana who specializes in obstructive sleep apnea and eye problems. my eye situation truly is rare. this doctor was categorically uninterested in understanding the condition or giving me guidance. I am still floored by how the visit went.

My appointment was scheduled m this ago. Subsequently, Dr. Rockwood changed locations and I was surprised when Mychart showed the location in Streetsboro. A phone call would have been nice but, since I was paying attention, I we t to the right place.

At times it seems Dr. Rockwood is rushing and not listening. I told him I now have a black dot in my left eye sight. He never responded with any explanation. As we were concluding, I had to remind him that I wished to see a Ocuplastic. He said if the new eyeglass prescription wasn't good enough to let him know and he would schedule cataract surgery. If I need the surgery I'd rather schedule it prior to spending $500 on new glasses. I'm considering finding a new physician.
