Industry Relationships

Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 9/26/2023, Dr. Haber has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Public Health Service-Reportable Financial Conflicts of Interest. Cleveland Clinic scientists and physicians engage in basic, translational and clinical research activities, working to solve health problems, enhance patient care and improve quality of life for patients. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. Click here to view a listing of instances where Cleveland Clinic has identified a Public Health Service (PHS)-Reportable Financial Conflict of Interest and has put measures in place to ensure that, to the extent possible, the design, conduct and reporting of the research is free from bias.

When I had a problem postoperative cataract surgery, I called the help number. The operator immediately got me in contact with the doctor on call. Shortly afterwards Dr Haber called me and listened to my problem and got me in to see Dr Erwin that morning. Dr Erwin was understanding and examined my eyes and reassured me that everything will be ok. Thank you Dr Haber and Dr Erwin for your kindness, concern, nonjudgmental attitude and medical reasurrance. You set my mind at ease by knowing that my eye was going to be fine.

My rating is based on the experience I had at the time of my appointment. The amount of time between dilation and procedure seemed exceptionally long. I was probably waiting for my procedure for at least 1/2 hour - 45 minutes past the time I was initially dilated. Then, when I was called back to the room, the patient who had been in that room before me, obviously had an issue with body odor. Clearly the Dr and assistant were aware of the problem. Instead of having the room air out, sanitized prior to calling me back, I was brought back to the room, seated, and left alone with the door open to air it out. It clearly had not been wiped down. It was very disconcerting, and I was acutely aware that the Dr and assistanct waited until it was clear. I however, had to wait in the chair that had retained the body odor. It was an uncomfortable situation.

Dr, Aimee Haber was very compassionate and understanding with my fear of having the procedure performed. She explained everything in detail. Dr. Haber is an integral part of the Cole Eye Institute. I would recommend her very highly to anyone. I feel she care about me as a person and not just another patient.Top Notch Doctor.

I don't know if the provider was having a very difficult day or what but the care I received was nonexistent. When she arrived in the room after I had been sitting in the patient chair for 45 minutes and had been at the clinic for 2 hours, I said that I was frustrated. She said the front desk had been told to tell patients that there would be delays. I told her that the desk had said it would be a fifteen minute delay. The doctor excused herself and smply left. After 10 minutes I went out into the hallway and asked a staff member when the doctor would be back. She looked at me and said, "I have no idea." I asked her if she could find out. She repeated, "I have no idea when she will be back to see you." I left after waiting a half hour for the doctor to return. I could hear her talking with a patient in another room
