Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 7/23/2021, Dr. Aguilera has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. Dr. Aguilera was excellent! He listened to my son's health history intently, ask questions as we went through the history. Had my son to walk, stand and describe his condition and his problems. He made suggestions and wrote a prescription as we talked. He suggested further care and even called me back an hour later with more treatment suggestions. WE felt much better after his consultation.

I wasn't sent to the correct doctor. I needed a doctor who specialized in spine and nerves and Dr. Aguilera informed me that my issue was not his specialty and that if I wanted answers I should schedule with main campus. I felt like I was "talked over" when trying to explain my issues and was basically given a part for exercises and given appointments for pain management and PT. I was also given a prescription with no explanation of the purpose or side effects etc. I had to do this research on my own. Also I was visibly upset and crying during this appointment and was not offered any sort of compassion. Perhaps this doctor is great at his specialty, but for me, I was very upset after this appointment and felt like it was a waste of my time and also a waste of his time.
