To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

when I compared Dr. Benscath's approach compared to my local physicians I was astounded at his thoroughness.

Extremely positive experience. Dr Benscath was a good listener professional unhurried and offered a solution to my problem.

Dr. Bencsath performed an emergency appendectomy on me. I was out of the hospital and walking around that day. All I have left to remember the emergency room visit and ensuing operation are 3 small scars -- and, thankfully, no pain. Clearly the man is skilled. But he is not only a gifted surgeon, his manners are impeccable. I was so out of it when I went in for my surgery that it would have taken exceptionally amazing manners for me to even notice them -- and he had just that kind. He is as smooth as Carey Grant! And his incisions are precise and healed well. I have not been overly impressed by Cleveland Clinic in the past (having moved here from DC and having left behind some impressive physicians.) But Dr. Bencsath has gone a long way in repairing my image of Cleveland Clinic.

the only problem I had was I had approval from insurance and received letter from the clinic saying the office would contact me to schedule in 7 days, well no one contacted me. I had to contact them to schedule my surgery. very unorganized. I have heard that this is a normal occurrence for this girl who schedules surgeries. I love the rest of the office and love dr Benscath. no other issues.
