Industry Relationships

Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.

To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

As of 7/29/2019, Dr. Bowers-Smith has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Bowers is a very professional and kind provider.

Dr. Bowers is amazing, genuinely kind, caring and compassionate. Always knows exactly where we left off last visit. So easy to discuss difficult problems with. She takes whatever time is needed for appointment and that is so important to me. I never mind if my appt is late because I know she takes the time needed..... especially important in psychiatry. Have worked with 3 psychiatrists over the years and she is, by far, the best. So happy to have found her.

Dr. Minnie Bowers and her staff has always given me exceptional Service and Customer Service. Dr. Bowers has listened and each time I visit she always expresses concern for me and make sure my medications are working for me. She never forgets who I am or what my concerns are. I would hope there are more providers like her. She is truly one of a kind . I feel so blessed to have her.

High quality of patient care imaginable! Dr. Bowers is the perfect match!!! Another Lutheran Hospital/Cleveland Clinic psychiatrist referred me to her when there was no way that he could fit me into his schedule. His referring me to Dr. Bowers was indeed a blessing; her being an African American female psychiatrist mattered all the world to me. She relates to me as a psychiatrist, but from the perspective of another woman who maybe challenged with comparable age, gender, racial issues, etc.; as being a Black woman doctor whose intellectual compacity to earn a medical degree is still suspicious. I totally respect and admire Dr. Bowers and feel that the Universe has finally aligned my stars.

Mental health challenge in totality with serious consideration to my nonmedical ideas. Dr. Bowers is very alert to address my and perception of changes in my bipolar disorder.
