About Andrew Matko, DO

Andrew J Matko, D.O. is a Board Certified Orthopaedic surgeon.  He is currently the Section Head of Orthopaedic surgery at Avon Hospital. He completed his undergraduate studies at Wright State University and received his medical degree from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Matko completed his Orthopaedic surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital. His main areas of focus include knee replacement surgery, shoulder and knee arthroscopy, upper extremity surgery, as well as fracture care. Dr. Matko has provided high school team coverage at both Avon and Midview high schools.

I was very pleased to be seen so quickly by Doctor Andrew Matko. I was also amazed that my total knee replacement surgery was scheduled so quickly. I was actually given a surgery date that had been canceled by someone else. So everything worked out perfectly for me!!

On the phone I specifically requested a orthopedic hand specialist. While Dr. Matko said he wasn't that, he did answer all my questions and solve all my problems. I liked him a lot, both medically, scientifically, personality and service and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

There should be 10's available for Dr Matko. He far exceeds the expected as well as treatment compared to other physicians. His PA, Alex, is also exceptional. So, 10 for Dr Matko and 8 for Alex (with 5 being very good, they both exceed expectations.

I could not be more pleased with Dr. Matko, and the surgery for my total knee replacement. Following his recommendations and plan for PT has led to my amazing recovery. He is kind, friendly and always has a smile. He explains needed information and answers all my questions. When I have sent a question or concern through My Chart, he returns a response in an appropriate time depending on his clinic and surgery schedules. His PA, Alex is very pleasant and knowledgeable and explains issues with great clarity. I do not hesitate to recommend Dr. Matko and Alex and have done so already.

I would give Dr Matko 100 across the board if available. He is great! He did my knee replacement and has showed genuine interest in how I am doing and what I can do to improve. He has been very positive yet strict. I enjoy his no nonsense attitude and his caution with before and after care. I tell everyone how good he is and if they need a physician for joint issues, he is the one.

Dr. Matko was very attentive, explained everything well; e.g. Injury, Healing expectations, When sent notice of concern via MyChart, he responded within a few hours and clear information and encouragement. That was when I needed that as I was discouraged about the healing process. I regained full confidence that I was on the right track.
