Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 6/8/2019, Dr. Chiunda has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. Dr. Chiunda is wonderful. She puts me at ease and respects my pain level and informed me of every action she was taking. I really like her and actually enjoy my visits to her office.

The meting with Dr. Chiunda was not as helpful as I had hoped. Her discussion was right to the solution without any discussion of a diagnosed problem. I wished to know what was the problem with my condition of swelling, etc. but was given a list of shoes to buy and dos and don't about exercise dos and don't. A strap was provided and I was shown how to wear it when exercise. Her demeanor is not welcoming but rather strictly to the point. She had xrays and other test results but did not discuss the findings. I was very unhappy about this visit having traveled from Florida to Cleveland in search of the "best" medical help I could find for my particular problem. Her cold demeanor is very off putting.

The dr was very knowledgeable and did a great job at explaining what she thought was my health problem. Unfortunately in my case she said there was no hope of improvement. I wish she could have mentioned any possible research or potential other things that may have at least tangentially helped - to put a more positive spin on the appt. I don't think this was her fault by any means, but I was depressed after the appt and now have plans to do my own research to learn more about my situation and what can be done and possible see another dr. also I though it was strange that she didn't put in a request for an X-ray to make sure my foot was ok or put in a follow up for future visit, but then again, I am not the doctor here. It could be that she felt that wasn't necessary.
