Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

Dr. Alfes is an excellent physician and care provider. He is a great listener and we thoroughly discussed all of my concerns or questions.I've had appointments with other doctors who seem in a rush to finish, but Dr. Alfes was dedicated to spending as much time with me as needed to cover all aspects of my wellness visit. He patiently provided his opinion and described pros & cons of recommended treatment options. He is a compassionate physician sincerely interested in my health snd well-being.I am fortunate to have Dr. Alfes as my primary care physician and would certainly recommend him to other people looking for a doctor.

Dr.Alfes was very friendly and professional. During my appointment, he took the extra time to update my health report and ask about relevant life circumstances. When he learned I was interested in a career in the medical field, he incorporated some additional explanations and medical terms!

For various good reasons I had to see Dr. Alfes several months before my wellness checkup was due. This was urgent. Dr. Alfes's office accommodated me, squeezed me in. I deeply appreciated this. He's also prompt in replying to MyChart messages, sometimes within a day! I don't know how he does it, because he's very, very busy!

Dr. Alfes is such a superior physician, I don't know where to begin. I'm old enough to be his mother (maybe even grandmother), but he's always expressed great respect for me and has always made suggestions as to how I can improve my care on my own, by taking certain wise steps; e.g. to increase balance, to relieve neck pain. Besides this, I'm a woman, yet he's never behaved condescendingly towards me. He's also always discussed options, risks, and benefits of all therapies. Since I saw him during the Covid-19 epidemic, he wisely counseled me not to allow the virus to make me timid about spending time (socially distanced, of course) outside to get fresh air and to relieve the stress of being cooped up. He's also an empathetic listener, and when he listens, it's plain to me that his mind is NOT on anything else but the job at hand. I'm a very careful observer of people's behavior. I've noticed a quality about this doctor which I find it difficult to explain so that you can understand it. It's this: Yes, he's a superior diagnostician, but on several occasions I noticed Dr. Alfes observe something (e.g. a slight swelling in the ankles) when he hadn't even been looking at my ankles! He seems to have an uncanny ability to see without appearing to see! This is the best I can do to explain myself.
