Cleveland Clinic accepts a wide variety of insurance and contracted managed care plans at our main campus, community hospitals and family health centers.

If a particular hospital isn't on your health plan, but you feel strongly about accessing care there, you can:

  1. Appeal to your insurance review board
  2. Look for organizations that will offer financial assistance
  3. Negotiate a payment plan with the hospital. Ask your insurance company representative or the hospital’s Patient Financial Advocates for further information.

What is MyCare Ohio?

MyCare Ohio is the state’s first integrated care delivery system that coordinates the physical, behavioral and long-term care services for individuals enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid. By helping these patients better coordinate their benefits in both programs, MyCare Ohio hopes to improve the quality of their healthcare and outcomes, as well as contain costs.

Which MyCare Ohio plans do you (Cleveland Clinic) accept?

At this time, Cleveland Clinic is participating with United Healthcare’s, Caresource’s and Buckeye’s MyCare Ohio health plans.

Since Cleveland Clinic is a participating provider, does that mean my physician is participating?

All physicians directly employed by Cleveland Clinic are participating. The MyCare Ohio insurance plan you joined will be able to tell you which other physicians in your area are participating, including those who are affiliated with Cleveland Clinic, but not employed by us. Your plan’s phone number should be on the back of your ID card.

I signed up for Molina or Aetna as part of MyCare Ohio. Can I come to the Cleveland Clinic for care?

At this time, Cleveland Clinic is not a participating provider with these health plans, although we are exploring contracting with them. Until that takes place, care received at Cleveland Clinic will not be covered by Molina or Aetna.

If I have already chosen my MyCare Ohio plan, can I change it?

  • If you are covered by both Medicare and Medicaid and choose to receive Medicare services through MyCare Ohio, you may change your health plan every month.
  • If you are covered only by Medicaid, you may change your MyCare Ohio plan only within the first 90 days after first enrolling into MyCare and then again during the annual open enrollment period.

When does my MyCare Ohio plan take effect?

MyCare Ohio plans become effective on the following dates:

  • May 1, 2014: Northeast region (counties of Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina)
  • June 1, 2014: Northwest region (counties of Fulton, Lucas, Ottawa, Wood)
    Southwest region (counties of Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Warren)
    Northeast central region (counties of Columbiana, Mahoning, Trumbull)
  • July 1, 2014: West central region (counties of Clark, Greene, Montgomery)
    Central region (counties of Delaware, Franklin, Madison, Pickaway, Union)
    East central region (counties of Portage, Stark, Summit, Wayne)

How can I find out about my benefits, obtain claims processing information or find out about authorization requirements under MyCare Ohio?

The MyCare Ohio insurance plan you chose will be able to answer those questions. Your plan’s phone number should be on the back of your ID card.

For services prior to May 1, 2014, whom should I contact?

You would contact the insurance with whom you were covered prior to May 1, 2014.

How will I know that I am enrolled in MyCare Ohio?

You will receive an insurance card from your assigned health plan with the MyCare Ohio logo. For confirmation, you can also the Medicaid Consumer Hotline at 1.800.324.8680.

Save the Date: Health Exchange Open Enrollment is November 1 – December 15!

Beginning November 1, 2018, individuals will have the ability to assess, compare, price out, and enroll into health insurance for 2019 through the Marketplace.

Individuals can sign up online at www.HealthCare.gov or via telephone at 800.318.2596.

Need Assistance?
Cleveland Clinic patient financial advocates are available to answer patient questions and assist them with the enrollment process.

Patients can simply contact a patient financial advocate in-person at locations across the enterprise or via telephone at 866.348.4393 between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
