Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery: Volume
2023, N = 1938
Cleveland Clinic surgeons perform a large volume of both isolated and combination coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) procedures. In 2023, they performed a total of 1938 procedures.
Procedure | Volume |
---|---|
Isolated CABG | 989 |
CABG + other | 949 |
CABG = coronary artery bypass graft

Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery: Volume, Primary Procedures, and Reoperations
2023, N = 1938
The volume of CABG repeat surgeries (reoperations) is higher at Cleveland Clinic than at other hospitals. Despite the increased complexity of these procedures, outcomes remain excellent for these and first-time (primary) CABG surgeries.

Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery + Other Procedure: In-Hospital Mortality
2023, N = 949
In-hospital mortality rates among patients who had CABG surgery plus another procedure at Cleveland Clinic (primary and reoperations) continued to be lower than expected in 2023. Calculated observed to expected ratios remain less than the value of 1 indicating that Cleveland Clinic mortality is better than expected in these procedures.
Year | O:E (observed to expected mortality ratio) |
---|---|
2020 | 0.46 |
2021 | 0.67 |
2022 | 0.50 |
2023 | 0.60 |
