Overview

Overview

CoolSculpting® (or cryolipolysis) is a nonsurgical fat reduction procedure that uses cold temperature to reduce fat deposits in certain areas of your body. The procedure is designed to reduce localized fat deposits or bulges that don’t respond to diet and exercise.

Areas commonly addressed with this treatment include your abdomen, hips, back fat, thighs, arms and neck. The effect is similar to liposuction in that it reduces fat but not skin. Liposuction reduces fat by vacuum suction, while CoolSculpting® does so by freezing fat (if loose skin is the problem, then traditional surgical procedures are generally preferable).

CoolSculpting® is completely nonsurgical, so you can typically return to work and normal activities immediately.

Why choose us?

When considering CoolSculpting®, choose a surgeon with significant experience performing the procedure. Friends, family members or an internist or primary care doctor are often helpful in suggesting the best surgeon.

For the best results, choose a cosmetic surgeon who’s affiliated with a major medical center, such as Cleveland Clinic. Make sure to ask your cosmetic surgeon about their credentials, training and how many procedures they’ve performed.

What to Expect

What to Expect

All CoolSculpting® treatments get rid of fat in stubborn areas. Here are some other things to expect:

  • The procedure doesn’t require anesthesia or downtime.
  • The procedure can take anywhere from 25 minutes to one hour in a doctor’s office.
  • You can plan on two to four sessions overall, depending on which treatment you choose and which area you’re treating.
  • It takes about 12 to 16 weeks for the body to process and dispose of the fat (that’s when you’ll see the full effect of each treatment).
Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a good candidate?

Good candidates for CoolSculpting® have noticeable bulges in certain areas. The procedure is specifically designed for those who have unwanted fat that resists diet and exercise. Unlike gastric bypass surgery, this procedure isn’t a weight loss solution for people who have obesity. It is, however, a nonsurgical alternative to liposuction. Request a one-on-one consultation with us to determine if CoolSculpting® is right for you.

Where does the fat go? Are the results permanent?

Once the treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen), your body processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells. Once the treated fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good.

What does it feel like?

As the cooling begins during the first few minutes, you’ll feel pressure and intense cold. This soon dissipates. Many people read, watch videos, work on their laptop or even take a nap during their treatment.

Is CoolSculpting® safe?

CoolSculpting® is FDA-cleared for the flank (love handles), abdomen and thigh. With over one million treatments performed worldwide, it’s proven to be a safe and effective treatment for nonsurgical fat reduction.

When will I see results?

You may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after your treatment and will experience the most dramatic results after two months. But your body will still flush out fat cells and continue to do so for up to four to six months after the procedure.
