Description
Tame-PD for Parkinson’s Disease (PD) patients with gait freezing who need physical therapy.
Cleveland Clinic's main campus is recruiting for a clinical research study to evaluate whether the addition of medication, either low dose methylphenidate or atomoxetine, to physical therapy will achieve improvement in gait and balance in PD more than physical therapy alone.
•Approximately 42 patients are being recruited at the Cleveland Clinic, the sole site for this study
•The study involves 3 clinic office visits, including the screening and two follow up visits. Patients will also have approximately two physical therapy appointments a week over a three month period.
Inclusion Criteria
•Patients with PD having significant balance or gait disorder
Exclusion Criteria
•Parkinson’s specific physical therapy within the last 6 months.
•A diagnosis of atypical parkinsonism.
•Having medical conditions (other than PD) that may affect balance or ability to walk
•Unable to have physical therapy
