Description

Description

Researchers at the Cleveland Clinic have created a research registry containing clinical information and tissue from people who have diagnosed or suspected epilepsy. The tissue (blood and/or brain) will be used in future research. One purpose of this research registry is to collect information to characterize the genetic, molecular, proteomic, and/or cellular factors that may be related to mechanisms of epilepsy and/or medical or surgical treatment outcomes. The registry will also allow the study of specific genes and protein targets on an ongoing basis, to help understand the role of genetics in epilepsy mechanisms and outcomes conducted by the Principal Investigators and their associates. Molecular and cellular studies may also be conducted using collected specimens. Specimens and data collected for this registry may also be used by researchers for future research on other neurological disorders and other medical conditions.
