Description
This study is looking to understand fear conditioning processes in the brain, specifically the avoidance of pain, in patients diagnosed with migraine disorder and on monoclonal antibody medication.
Study activities include: measurement of brain activity using MEG/EEG (MEG is magnetoencephalography and EEG is electroencephalography), performance of pain avoidance task, and several questionnaires.
The visit is typically 4-6 hours (can be split over two days). Compensation provided.
Inclusion Criteria
- 18+ years of age
- Diagnosis of migraine with or without aura, episodic or chronic
- Treatment with CGRP mAbs at least 3 months (any level of treatment response)
- History of cutaneous allodynia and/or central sensitization
Exclusion Criteria
- Any co-occurring chronic pain diagnosis that might confound with migraine
- Absence of allodynia/central sensitization
- Claustrophobia or unable/unsafe to complete MEG
- Diagnosis of neurological or major psychiatric disorder
- Concurrent headache diagnosis
