Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 12/31/2017, Dr. Zahka has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. Dr. Zahka always explains test results and decisions he is making in such a way that I understand, but I don't feel talked down to.

Dr. Zakha and the entire cardiology and pediatric cardiology department continually make both my husband and I a part of the conversation when it comes to my care. They take the time to listen to concerns, plan for the future, and make us feel both at ease throughout the appointment. We always leave confident in the plan set out for future appointments, tests and the like.

Dr Zahka had being seeing my son since he was born and taken to the PICU for his heart surgery. when talking to him about my son's care and during daily morning rounds in the PICU, I was completely blown away with his knowledge. I knew my son had to see him. Although all the other cardiologists in the department are fantastic, Dr Zahka is one I have full trust in with my son's condition. my son may be little but he certainly listens to him when he talks. I also admire when Dr Zahka talks to my son about his plans and what he expects from my son. Dr Zahka's fellow Dr. Steele is also fantastic! He really is extremely knowledgable just like Dr zahka and we are so comfortable with him. I really hope Dr Steele can stay with CCF because he would make a great asset to the team! My family and I are so greatful for the both of them and also so appreciative for the way they've cared for my son. Thank you!

We absolutely love Dr. Zahka. He is wonderful to work with, he is fabulous with my daughter (the patient) as well as me. I love how he can explain everything to me, as well as directly to my daughter in a way that we both understand. And I love that he writes his notes on a piece of paper to send home with me, I have all of them over the years we have been seeing Dr. Zahka, it helps to keep track of progress and I really appreciate that!

Dr Zahka is an incredible Dr. I love the way he sits down and talks to not only me but my son. He writes down everything he says so when you leave his office you have literally all the information at hand. He is so impressive with the best bed side manner I have ever seen

Dr. Zahka was phenomenal. He engaged my 8-year-old in a dialogue throughout the course of our visit. I loved that he took the time to write down important questions and answers about her health during our conversation, and gave us that paperwork to keep. This is a practice that should be standardized across all specialties. It allowed me to just talk and listen, and to not have to worry about remembering all of the important details because my child's physician took notes for us. What an incredible concept.

I truly can't say enough good things about Dr. Zahka. I was impressed by several things: 1. He was prepared before he entered the exam room--knew my daughter's history despite not having seen her before, and previous cardiac care was provided in our former state of residence. 2. He spoke to my daughter as well as to me. She's only 4, but it is her health and she deserves to be spoken to. 3. He didn't rush AT ALL. Certainly this wasn't the case, but it felt as though we were his only patient of the day. I have already recommended Dr. Zahka to others and will again.
