Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 11/16/2018, Dr. Al-Abousi has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Interactions with industry are essential to bringing the researchers' discoveries to the public, but can present the potential for conflicts of interest related to their research activities. This was my first visit with Dr. Al-Abousi. I was very impressed. She treated me very well and was efficient and courteous.

I felt like I was wasting her time. It was my first visit and, at other doctors, the doctor made an effort to get to know me, but she was very rushed. I think she was in the room for three minutes. Her smart watch kept beeping like she was getting text messages which she took time to read but didn't excuse herself. I don't get the impression she cared about me at all.

this was my first visit with Dr. Al Abouse and I just loved her!! She was professional but still very warm and friendly. Her instructions were clear and she never seemed rushed. I will continue to see her as my primary care physician.

First visit with this provider - good. If not, I would have requested another provider. I felt comfortable with her.

Just a comment about the outcome of the visit: I am still in contact and working with Dr. Al Abousi regarding my visit purpose. Also, she is not my PCP, but I seldom can get a visit with my primary care physician, so this was a first-time and possibly last time appointment with Dr. Al Abousi. I feel she has done and is doing a good job.

Dr. May H Al Abousi was very attentive and interested in discussing my health issues. She was very patient and most importantly a very good listener who appeared to truly care about my health. She advised me of the pros and cons of a possible surgery and addressed/ looked at all of my health issues. She made my experience one that I felt very good about and I would always like to have her as my primary doctor.
