A native of Michigan, Dr. Graham graduated with High Distinction and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a Bachelor Degree in Microbiology. She went on to receive her medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, graduating cum laude; she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her surgical residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center. She then trained in vascular surgery at Northwestern University.
In addition to her current academic appointment at CWRU in the Department of Surgery, Dr. Graham is also an adjunct professor in the CWRU Department of Biomedical Engineering. She also serves on the graduate faculty at Kent State University, School of Biomedical Sciences.
Prior to joining the Cleveland Clinic in 1999, Dr. Graham was the Chief of the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Service at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Professor of Surgery with tenure at the University of Michigan Medical School. Previously, she was at Case Western Reserve University where she served as Chief, Division of Vascular Surgery and also as the Chief, Surgical Services at the Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Dr. Graham’s research interests focus on the effects of lipids on vascular graft healing. Her research is supported by NIH grants. She has authored or co-authored more than 100 articles and abstracts on her specialty interests in leading peer-reviewed medical journals. She has published nearly 50 chapters in medical textbooks on the results of her research and her clinical experience. She has lectured worldwide on her research work and her clinical practice at more than 75 medical symposia and conferences.
Dr. Graham is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. She is a member of the Society for Vascular Surgery and the American Surgical Association, and a past president of the Society of University Surgeons.
