CARGLUMIC ACID (kar GLOO mik AS id) treats urea cycle disorders (UCDs). It works by helping your body decrease the amount of ammonia in your blood. This lowers the risk of serious health problems. It is not a cure.

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
Take this medication by mouth. Take it as directed on the prescription label. Tablets must be dissolved in water before taking. Do not use any other liquid or food to dissolve your medication. Do not cut, crush, or chew this medication. Do not swallow the tablets whole. Keep taking it unless your care team tells you to stop.
Determine if you need to split the tablet for your dose. Dissolve a single tablet or partial tablet in a minimum of 2.5 mL of water and drink mixture right away. Repeat this process for each of the other tablets in your dose. The tablets do not dissolve completely in the water. Rinse the mixing container with extra water and drink it to make sure that you receive the whole dose.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. While this medication may be prescribed for children as young as newborns for selected conditions, precautions do apply.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
NOTE: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.
Interactions are not expected.

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Before opening, store in the refrigerator.
After opening, store between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Do not refrigerate. Protect from moisture. Keep the container tightly closed. Get rid of any unused medication after it expires or 1 month after opening, whichever is first.
