SUCROFERRIC OXYHYDROXIDE (SOO kroe FER ik OX ee hye DROX ide) prevents and treats high phosphorus levels in people with kidney disease. It works by lowering the amount of phosphorus your body absorbs from food. It belongs to a group of medications called phosphate binders.

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
Take this medication by mouth. Chew or crush it completely before swallowing. Do not swallow tablets whole. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Take this medication with food. Take your medication at regular intervals. Do not take it more often than directed. Do not stop taking except on your care team's advice.
Talk to your care team about the use of this medication in children. Special care may be needed.
Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

If you miss one or more doses, restart your medication with the next meal. Do not take double or extra doses.
