What We Treat
Cleveland Clinic Florida offers the latest techniques in the management of gynecologic cancers, including but not limited to surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. Advanced surgical techniques including robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery are performed when indicated. Prophylactic surgery for the prevention of cancers in high-risk women are also performed when appropriate. Genetic testing and counseling is provided as well.
Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery
Robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery are both surgical options for the treatment of some gynecologic cancers. Robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery utilizes a computer-enhanced surgical system designed to mimic the movement of hands, wrists and fingers. Robotic assisted surgery may decrease blood loss, complications and length of hospital stays. Most patients are able to return home the same as surgery or after just and overnight stay in the hospital.
Gynecologic Oncologists work with physicians from the Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, and Pathology departments to accurately diagnose and appropriately treat all patients with gynecologic cancers with the latest and most successful techniques.
Genetic Testing and Counseling
For patients with a strong family history of gynecologic cancers, it is important that they consult a physician to undergo genetic testing for possible hereditary cancer syndrome. Our genetic counseling department is available to perform this assessment and testing.
