About Us
Computed tomography (CT) technologists operate advanced imaging equipment to obtain computer-generated sectional images of the human body. CT technologists must be able to provide quality patient care while working closely with the radiologist in a fast-paced, high volume area.
Students enrolled in the Computed Tomography program will complete the following courses: Introduction to Computed Tomography, Cross Sectional Anatomy & Pathology, and CT Physics. In addition, you will complete a clinical education experience that will be done at two approved sites where you will obtain the required clinical competencies for computed tomography. Upon completion of coursework, clinical education and required competencies, you will be awarded a certificate of completion and will be eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Computed Tomography post-primary certification exam.
To practice in the state of Ohio as a CT technologist, you must be registered as a radiographer by the ARRT and carry a radiologic license from the Ohio Department of Health. Many hospitals and imaging centers are now requiring their CT technologists be registered in CT by the ARRT.

Technical standards
- Candidates must have good eyesight either naturally or through correction. They must be able to see the printed words in a textbook and be able to read and accurately interpret the numbers on a radiographic technique chart.
- Candidates must have the ability to hear instructions and be able to respond to verbal requests by patients/customers.
- Candidates must be able to lift a minimum of thirty (30) pounds and possess the ability to support up to 175 pounds. CT technologists must assist, support and move patients from wheelchairs and carts onto examination tables which requires the use of their backs and muscles. CT technologists work while standing, sometimes for hours.
- Candidates must be able to move around and stand with hands free for long periods of time.
- Candidates must verbally instruct patients and be able to express concern and empathy for them. Candidates must possess good verbal and nonverbal communications skills as evidenced from the application and interview process.
- Candidates must be able to perform data entry with dexterity and accuracy.
- Candidates must be physically and mentally capable of fulfilling the objectives of the CT Program. The school will make reasonable accommodations to assist a student with a disability to advance through the program.
- Candidates must have sensory function adequate for patient assessment and care. They must possess the physical status needed to provide all aspects of care in a safe manner.
Requirements
Applicants to the Computed Tomography Program must:
Be a registered technologist in radiography, nuclear medicine, or radiation therapy, or a student in the final year of one of the aforementioned programs. Registration must be through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or The Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
Application process
Applications are accepted through the Campus Café system. The deadline for applications is July 31st each year.
Pre-acceptance documents and requirements
An applicant is required to complete the following items after submitting their initial application in Campus Cafe in order for their application to be considered.
- Submit your non-refundable $20.00 application fee payment in Momentus and upload a copy of your payment confirmation to your applicant portal in Campus Café.
- Complete the Computed Tomography Supplemental Application and upload the completed supplemental application form to your applicant portal in Campus Cafe.
- Complete the Applicant Demographic Survey and upload a copy of your survey completion confirmation to your applicant portal in Campus Cafe.
- Complete the Distance Education Technology Review and Acknowledgement survey and upload a copy of your survey completion confirmation to your applicant portal in Campus Cafe.
- Upload a copy of your current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification to your applicant portal in Campus Cafe.
- Upload a copy of your current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) license or equivalent license to your applicant portal in Campus Cafe. This is not required if the applicant is in the final year of an imaging program.
Post-acceptance documents and requirements
If an applicant is accepted into the program the following items are required in order to enroll in the program. Please review the health requirements before submitting your documentation.
- Complete and sign an Enrollment Agreement in Campus Cafe via DocuSign.
- Complete the Student IPEDS Survey and upload a copy of your survey completion confirmation to your applicant portal in Campus Cafe.
- Upload your negative tuberculosis (TB) test documentation to your applicant portal in Campus Cafe. The TB test must be completed within 12 months prior to the start of the program.
- Upload your immunization documentation for chicken pox (varicella) or positive titer to your applicant portal in Campus Cafe.
- Upload your immunization documentation for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) to your applicant portal in Campus Cafe.
- Upload your positive hepatitis B titer or waiver to your applicant portal in Campus Cafe.
- Upload your tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) booster documentation to your applicant portal in Campus Cafe. The booster is required within the past 10 years.
- Influenza immunization documentation is required during flu season (November 1 through March 31). The applicant is not required to upload documentation to the applicant portal in Campus Cafe; at this time but will be required to obtain and submit documentation when the vaccination becomes available.
- Complete the required onboarding tasks in SilkRoad. Onboarding will include a background check. Additional information will be provided following completion of the above items.
Rolling admissions
Students are accepted into the program based on a rolling admission process. Once all spots have been filled for a class, applicants will be placed on a waiting list. If accepted candidates relinquish their positions, candidates will be removed from the waiting list and notified of admission.

Cost of attendance
The cost of attendance for the Computed Tomography Program is a budget comprised of direct and indirect costs. Tuition is a direct cost charged by the program. All others are indirect costs that a student may incur during the course of the program and is not paid to the program. These costs are subject to change.

Tuition refund policy
The Computed Tomography Program issues refunds for tuition and other fees for eligible applicants and students as outlined in the School of Health Professions’ Tuition Refund Policy.
Financial assistance
The Computed Tomography Program participates in the Department of Veteran Affairs Post-9/11 GI Bill®. Please contact the United States Department of Veteran Affairs for current information.
The Computed Tomography Program does not participate in federal financial aid, including Pell Grants and student loans.

Graduation Requirements
Upon successful completion of the below courses, clinical program requirements and ARRT requirements, the student is awarded a Certificate of Completion and is eligible for the ARRT registry examination.
To complete the Computed Tomography Program, the following courses must be completed:

- Computed Tomography Clinical Experience
Additionally, prior to completion of the Computed Tomography Program, students must meet the following criteria:
- All competencies must be completed as outlined in the Competency Examination Policy.
- Tuition and fees must be paid in full.
- All reference books or other material must be returned.
- All ID badges must be returned, or a fee must be paid.
- Dosimeter must be returned or replacement fee paid.
- Clinical site survey completed.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
The student’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) toward graduation will be evaluated after the completion of each term of the program. Failure to maintain SAP may result in the student being dismissed from the program.

Textbook information
- All prices are for NEW books.
- The current edition must be purchased.

- You may rent all of the books if you choose. Rental purchases need to be verified with the instructor.
- There are no assigned textbooks for the Introduction to Computed Tomography course.

How long is the program?
The Computed Tomography Program is a 9-month program.
When does the program begin?
The program begins mid- to late August each year.
What are the program prerequisites?
The prerequisite for the Computed Tomography Program is that you are a registered technologist in radiography, nuclear medicine or radiation therapy, or be a senior student in one of the aforementioned programs.
How do you select the clinical sites a student will be attending?
Each student attends two clinical sites that are determined by availability.
What is the deadline for application?
Applications will be accepted until July 31.
What is the program capacity?
Program capacity is 25 students for the Computed Tomography Program. Once this capacity is met, all remaining applicants will be placed on a waitlist.
What is the acceptance process?
The applicants who meet the prerequisites are accepted into the program until we reach capacity.
Do I need a college degree to get accepted into the program?
No.
What is the time commitment for successful completion of the program?
The program starts in the fall. Fall classes include Cross-Sectional Anatomy and Pathology, and Introduction to Computed Tomography, which are eight-week courses each. Spring classes include Computed Tomography Physics and Computed Tomography Clinical Experience. Students should expect to perform a minimum of 15 hours per week at a clinical site beginning in January. The three-hour classes are held one day a week for 16 weeks, with the exception of the Introduction classes.
Do you have weekend or evening program hours?
We offer evening but not weekend classes. Some online classes are available and variable clinical hours. We can offer clinical sites with evening and weekend clinical rotations.
