Description
The purpose of this research study is to test if non needle acupunture, known as transcutaneous electroacupunture (TEA) can reduce the symptoms and inflammation of UC.
Inclusion Criteria
- 18-84 years of age
- Have a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis prior to enrollment date of this study
- Are willing to carry pager-like acupuncture devices and receive non-needle acupuncture therapy at home
- Are willing to complete stool collection
- Are willing to answer brief questionnaires
- Recent colonoscopy, flex sigmoidoscopy within the last 3 months with active symptoms
Note:
- Your eligibility is to the discretion of the study team based on your signs, symptoms and required screening tests.
- Patients who participate will be compensated for their time
Exclusion Criteria
- Previous colorectal surguries, currently pregnant and the use of previous accupunture therapies
