Description
Primary Objective
1.1 To establish a tissue and clinical data repository of patients diagnosed with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) for patients that are treated at member institutions of the United States Thrombotic Microangiopathy (USTMA) consortium
Secondary Objectives
1.2 To provide the foundation for collaborative clinical and laboratory correlative studies and translational clinical research studies in patients newly diagnosed with TTP or with a prior history of TTP
Inclusion Criteria
3.2.1 Patients with a clinical diagnosis of acquired TTP as defined by: a microangiopathic hemolytic anemia and thrombocytopenia (<100 x 103)
3.2.2 Patients may have either been recently diagnosed with acquired TTP or may be in remission from a previous diagnosis of acquired TTP
3.2.3 Ability to understand and provide informed consent
Exclusion Criteria
3.3.1 Inability to provide informed consent
3.3.2 Incarcerated patients will be excluded from the study due to the inherent difficulties in maintaining close follow-up for study purposes in patients who are incarcerated.
