Beth Mooney is the retired chairman and chief executive officer of KeyCorp. She was named president in 2010 and later served as chairman and CEO from 2011 until her retirement in 2019. Ms. Mooney, who joined Key in April 2006, has over 35 years of experience in retail banking, commercial lending and real estate financing.

Prior to joining KeyCorp in 2006, she served as Senior Executive Vice President at AmSouth Bancorporation (now Regions Financial Corporation), where she also became Chief Financial Officer in 2004. Her banking career also included roles of increasing responsibility at Bank One Corporation, Citicorp Real Estate, Inc., Hall Financial Group and Republic Bank of Texas/First Republic.

Ms. Mooney is the Chair of the Cleveland Clinic Board of Directors and Cleveland Clinic Board of Trustees. She previously served as the Vice Chair of the Cleveland Clinic Board of Directors and Chair of the Governance Committee. Ms. Mooney is also a Trustee of the Board of the Musical Arts Association (The Cleveland Orchestra) where she previously served as the Treasurer. 

Ms. Mooney is a member of AT&T Inc. Board of Directors (serving on its Corporate Development and Finance Committee and chairs the Human Resources Committee), the Ford Motor Company Board of Directors (serving on its Audit and Nominating and Governance Committees), and the Accenture Board of Directors (serving on its Finance Committee). She is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Brookings Institute, The Conference Board and a member of the Business Council. She is a member of the Board of Directors of The Bank Policy Institute (and served as its Chair of the BITS Committee) and a member of the Supervisory Board of The Clearing House. She is the past President of the Federal Advisory Council, past Chair of the Greater Cleveland Partnership and perviously served on the Catalyst Board of Directors and the United Way of Cleveland Board of Directors.

She has been recognized by Forbes magazine as one of “The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women” and by Fortune magazine as one of the top 50 “Most Powerful Women in Business”. She was named the #1 Most Powerful Woman in Banking for three years before ‘retiring’ to the Hall of Fame. In 2017, she was named American Banker’s “Banker of the Year”. In 2022, she was honored by the National Association of Corporate Directors as the Nonprofit Director of the Year.

Ms. Mooney graduated from the University of Texas in 1977 and earned her MBA from Southern Methodist University in 1983, where she was selected as a 2007-2008 Distinguished Alumni of the Cox School of Business.
