Pediatric Therapy Services: Interactive Metronome Program
2018 - 2022
Therapy Services offers Interactive Metronome® (IM), a computer-based program designed to improve attention, motor control, and coordination in children with a wide range of cognitive and physical difficulties with reaction speed and timing. Interactive Metronome can help children with learning disability, dyslexia, apraxia, ADD/ADHD, auditory/language processing disorders, developmental coordination disorder, cerebral palsy and traumatic brain injury.
Improvement in Descriptive Category
2018 - 2022 (N = 254)
The IM assessment tool consists of 7 descriptive categories for performance ranging from extreme deficiency to superior. The seven descriptive categories are: extreme deficiency, severe deficiency, below average, average, above average, exceptional and superior. The graph below summarizes group data for patient performance on the IM assessment. From 2018-2022 of the 254 patients, 86% of children showed improvement with an average increase of performance of 1.76 levels above baseline testing.
Change in Adjusted Millisecond
2018-2022 (N = 306)
The IM assessment is administered before treatment and at discharge. Analysis of patients’ change in raw score from baseline to discharge in 2018–2022 indicates a reduction of 100.51 points in average adjusted millisecond score. Lower scores indicate better performance in motor coordination.
