Cathy Kilbane retired in August 2017 as the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of The Sherwin-Williams Company. In that role she oversaw delivery of domestic and global legal services, advising management on all aspects of legal and regulatory matters relating to the company’s 40,000 employees and over 4,000 retail stores. Additionally, she was responsible for corporate governance, litigation, environmental, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property.
Ms. Kilbane came to Sherwin-Williams with nine years of experience with American Greetings Corporation where she held the position of Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. In this capacity, she had oversight for the legal department and all legal functions. Prior to American Greetings, she practiced law for sixteen years with Baker & Hostetler, LLP, where she was a partner in the general business group, specializing in commercial and intellectual property issues.
Ms. Kilbane serves on the Board of Directors of The Andersons, Inc., a diversified agribusiness company, and The Davey Tree Expert Company. She is also on the Board of Trustees of the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation and the 50 Club of Cleveland.
Ms. Kilbane received her B.A. and her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University.
