Today is a special day for me and our team. Today we are expanding in Toronto.
Cleveland Clinic is one of the largest and most respected academic medical centres in the world. Our expertise is deep and our reach is wide, yet our care is local and personal.
Eleven years ago we saw our first patient in Toronto at our first international location. Since then our Cleveland Clinic Canada team has done an excellent job of delivering high quality, compassionate care, complimenting the healthcare system and building valuable relationships with local academic medical centers. Listening to our patients and meeting their needs will always be our top priority. They seek out our expertise to help them live healthier, more active lives and in some cases they need us to advise them on complicated health situations. Since we opened, our model of care has been in high demand. That’s why we are pleased to announce that we are now offering a midtown Toronto location for care.
We recognized that sports injuries and musculoskeletal issues are on the rise and that’s why we wanted to expand our team- to help more people improve their mobility and performance. To meet this patient need, we have joined forces with Sports Medicine Specialists, co-founded by Dr. Michael Clarfield and Dr. Darrell Ogilvie-Harris. We are thrilled to welcome the Sports Medicine Specialists team into our global family of 52,000 caregivers, which includes 3,500 physicians and specialists who treat over 7 million patients a year.
With this acquisition, the first international acquisition in the Clinic’s 96 year history, we have strengthened our existing sports health team with additional sports medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, massage therapists, personal trainers, athletic therapists, pedorthists, chiropractors and nutritionists- all who will advance us on our mission to help Canadians live healthier and more active lives.
I’m so proud of our team. We are looking forward to caring for more patients, in locations that are convenient for them.
