Injectables
Noninvasive injectable treatments can help you address the signs of aging without the need for surgical procedures.
Neuromodulators (Botox®/Xeomin®)
These are noninvasive injections used to soften or reduce lines and wrinkles. They do this by temporarily relaxing facial muscles and leaving a refreshed appearance. Common areas of treatment include horizontal forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet. It can also lift the brows and slim the face.
Dermal fillers (Belotero®/Radiesse®)
These fillers are ideal for restoring lost facial volume and softening deep facial lines, plumping and reshaping the lips and enhancing facial contours. They also reduce under-eye bags and improve the appearance of depressed scars.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP)
PRP is a nonsurgical procedure that harnesses the body’s own healing and regenerative processes. It can be used for facial rejuvenation, as well as to restore thinning hair. This is an in-office procedure that starts with a simple blood draw and processes whole blood in a centrifuge to extract platelets. These platelets are rich in growth factors. Then, a provider injects the purified PRP into the skin or scalp.
Facial rejuvenation
PRP is an ideal choice for facial rejuvenation if you’re looking for a natural result with a natural product (your own platelets). PRP is injected intradermally (into the skin), which leads to increased collagen production and improved skin elasticity. PRP can soften fine lines, volumize facial contours, improve skin texture and decrease hyperpigmentation.
Rejuvenate your skin naturally with PRP, using your own platelets to boost collagen production, enhance elasticity and restore a youthful glow.
PRP treatments can:
- Soften fine lines and wrinkles
- Improve skin tone and texture
- Reduce hyperpigmentation
- Add subtle volume to facial contours
PRP can also be combined with microneedling and applied after laser treatments.
Hair restoration
When injected into the scalp, PRP stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of stem cells in hair follicles. It also increases blood supply to the follicles. Clinically, this translates to stronger and thicker hair. PRP is an ideal treatment for androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern hair loss). PRP therapy stimulates hair follicle growth by improving blood supply and activating stem cells, resulting in thicker, stronger hair. PRP is effective for both men and women with pattern hair loss, and a series of three to five treatments is recommended for optimal results.
Facial resurfacing
Resurfacing procedures can improve the texture of the facial skin, improve acne scars, decrease pores and brighten the skin.
Microneedling
Microneedling is a safe, effective and minimally invasive procedure that helps improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of acne scars and rejuvenate the skin. By creating thousands of micro-punctures in the skin, microneedling stimulates the skin’s natural healing process and induces collagen production. The result is smoother, firmer and younger-looking skin. At Cleveland Clinic Canada, we use SkinPen®, a device that is Health Canada-approved and the first microneedling device to be approved by the FDA.
Chemical peels
Restoring your skin’s natural healthy glow, peels can help with a range of skin concerns, including acne, acne scarring, facial hyperpigmentation, skin dullness and fine lines. Peels involve topically applying a chemical solution to the skin to exfoliate the top layers.

Cosmetic Procedures Frequently Asked Questions
What are Botox and Xeomin?
Botox and Xeomin are neuromodulators that work by preventing the transmission of nerve signals to targeted muscles, thereby reducing wrinkles formed from facial expression (dynamic wrinkles). Botox and Xeomin are safe and effective treatments for common concerns such as frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet and neck lines. These injectables can also slim the face and legs by decreasing muscle bulk.
What is the difference between Botox and Xeomin?
Botox and Xeomin are both incobotulinumtoxin A. Xeomin, sometimes considered the “naked toxin,” doesn’t contain the inactive proteins that are present in Botox. The lack of these proteins is helpful to reduce the formation of neutralizing antibodies, which renders the neuromodulator less effective in some patients.
What is filler, and how is it different from Botox/Xeomin?
Filler is a substance that’s injected into the skin to help volumize and contour the face. The most common fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in your skin and broken down by your body. In contrast to neuromodulators like Botox and Xeomin, which improve dynamic wrinkles such as frown lines, fillers are used to lift and contour the face in areas like the cheeks, undereye, jawline and chin. A combination approach with both neuromodulator and filler treatment is often helpful to address the signs of aging.
When is the right time to start getting Botox/Xeomin?
Each person is unique, and the “right time” to start injectable treatments will differ for each person. In general, if you’re starting to notice fine lines when your face is at rest, it’s a good time to consider neuromodulator treatment to help reduce existing lines and prevent deeper wrinkles.
How often do I have to repeat my treatments to maintain the results?
The frequency of each injectable depends on the type of treatment. Neuromodulators such as Botox and Xeomin are usually done every three to four months to ensure consistent results. Filler treatment frequency can vary based on the type of product and area treated. Areas such as the lips may need treatment every four to six months, whereas the cheeks and undereye area may last up to 18 months.
Will I look frozen or fake with cosmetic injectable treatments?
Absolutely not! Our goal is to achieve natural results that enhance your own features. With neuromodulator treatment, we aim to smooth out unwanted lines but still allow you to be expressive. With fillers, our approach is to restore lost facial volume, as well as lift and rejuvenate your skin. Our specialists strive to ensure that the result will be imperceptible in terms of what was specifically done, but that you’re looking and feeling like your best self.
Are these treatments painful?
Needles deliver both neuromodulator and filler treatments. Most patients tolerate these injections very well with no significant discomfort. For Botox and Xeomin, expect a series of quick injections that many patients describe as a “pin prick” or “mosquito bite.” For fillers, injections can be deeper, but discomfort is minimized with topical anesthetic cream before the procedure. There can be some mild tenderness in the areas injected with filler for a few days.
How much downtime should I expect?
There’s minimal downtime with injectable treatments. Patients often get Botox or Xeomin treatments over their breaks and can return to work immediately. You may notice small, red bumps at the injection site that resolve in about 30 minutes. With dermal fillers, it’s common to see minor bruising and swelling for a few days after the procedure. You can easily hide these with makeup.
Do men get cosmetic injectable treatments?
Yes! A growing number of men are seeking minimally invasive cosmetic injectable treatments. Our approach to all patients is the same — a tailored, customized plan to help enhance your best features. Since men and women differ in facial anatomy, skin quality and aesthetic goals, our experts are here to help achieve the specific results you want.
