Rita Pappas is the Medical Director of Medical Operations. In this role, Dr. Pappas oversees the Admission and Transfer Center (Main Campus) and Ohio’s and Florida’s regional hospitals. She also serves as Interim Chief of both the Obstetrics & Gynecology Institute and the Children’s Institute.

Previously, Dr. Pappas was Director of the Pediatric Residency Program and Quality Improvement Officer. She served as Interim Chair of the Pediatric Institute and Chief Medical Officer at Hope Hospital (Cleveland Clinic’s COVID-19 surge facility). In 2020, Dr. Pappas was Chief Medical Officer for the vice-presidential and presidential debates in Cleveland and Utah.

Dr. Pappas graduated from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. She completed a residency in pediatrics at Rainbow Babies & Children’s University Hospitals in Cleveland.

She’s committed to family-centered care and is a leader in family-centered rounds. Dr. Pappas teaches residents and medical students at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. She’s been a co-investigator and grants coach, served on the Corporate Compliance Committee and named a Best Doctor in America.
