Biographical Sketch
Bret A. Lashner, MD, is Director of the Center for Inflammatory Bowel Disease in the Department of Gastroenterology at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Lashner is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, and he specializes in ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and general gastrointestinal disease. In 1999, he was awarded the Premier Physician Award from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.
A frequent lecturer at national and international meetings, Dr. Lashner also serves on the editorial boards of peer-reviewed publications, including the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. He has served as principal investigator for many clinical trials on inflammatory bowel disease and has published extensively on clinical aspects of inflammatory bowel disease.
Dr. Lashner is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Lashner received his medical degree from New York University and completed his internal medicine residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Chicago, and obtained his Master of Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
