Scholarship
Cleveland Clinic Akron General Lodi Hospital and its’ Medical Staff are pleased to offer up to eight $1,000 health career scholarships to local area students. The scholarships are available to the best candidates who are graduating high school seniors from the following school districts: Black River, Buckeye, Cloverleaf and Northwestern. The graduating senior must be pursuing a 2 or 4 year healthcare degree.
Application Requirements
Completed scholarship application:
- 250-500 word essay of why you are interested in pursuing this field of medicine.
- Letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor.
- Copy of your high school transcript.
Application Deadline: April 1, annually

Health Screenings in Lodi Area
Lodi Hospital is pleased to offer monthly health screenings at locations throughout Medina and
northern Wayne Counties. Low-cost cholesterol screenings are available, as well as free blood
pressure, glucose and body mass index (BMI) checks. For more information, call 330.948.5544.
Nutrition Services
Struggling with weight loss? Trying to lower your cholesterol or blood pressure? Looking for
increased energy and stamina? Our registered dietitians are here to help. Lodi Hospital offers
nutrition consultations to help you reach your goals for a happier, healthier you. Call 330.948.5546

Quit Smoking
Lodi Hospital is pleased to offer community residents a FREE six-session smoking cessation class
using the American Lung Association’s Freedom from Smoking program that is taught by Tobacco
Treatment Specialists. For class information, call 330.948.5532.
EMS Education
Lodi Hospital is committed to assisting local Emergency Medical Service (EMS) squads with continuing education classes and programs. Upon request, special topics may be arranged. ACLS and PALS certification classes are conducted several times a year and are open to EMS providers. For more information, or to make a request, please call 330.948.5512.
Sugar School
Want to know what to eat to help control your blood sugar and lose weight? Sugar School will teach
you in just one night. Reservations are required by calling 330.948.5546. A number of different
sessions are held throughout the year. Cost: $20 per person, $30 per couple.
Cardiac Health: Hypertension Help
Learn about ways to control and prevent hypertension (high blood pressure). Anyone who has been
diagnosed with hypertension or has a family history of heart disease is welcome. For class

Good Health in Store: Supermarket Tours for Diabetes
Lodi Hospital and Miller’s Market help individuals with diabetes learn how to enjoy a variety of
foods as part of a healthy diet. The supermarket tours provide a unique opportunity for hands-on
experience reading food labels, determining portion sizes, deciding which foods are best, learning
what to avoid and knowing when you can “bend the rules.” The tour is open to everyone. Various

Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
We offer a monitored exercise and education program for people with cardiac or pulmonary
disease. Designed to help participants learn self-management of their overall health with emphasis
on prevention, risk factors and exercise. Learn more about our Phase III program available at Lodi

Safe Sitter® babysitting course
A nationally recognized babysitting course, Safe Sitter® is periodically held at Lodi Hospital in
conjunction with local schools, scout troops as well as other groups and individuals. Safe Sitter® is a medically accurate, 5 1/2 hour babysitting
preparation program designed for students grades 6-8. The program was created and written by a
pediatrician and focuses on teaching safe and nurturing child care techniques. The program is
taught by trained Lodi Hospital personnel under the supervision of a registered nurse. For more

Safe@Home by Safe Sitter®
Safe@Home by Safe Sitter® is a 90-minute program designed for students in grades 4-6 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. The program is taught by trained Lodi Hospital personnel. For more information call 330-948-5544.
