Why Choose the Lerner College of Medicine?

CCLCM is a distinct program within the CWRU School of Medicine. We train physician investigators who are passionate about scientific inquiry, able to think critically and eager to work collaboratively. Upon completion of the five-year curriculum, our students graduate with an MD degree with Special Qualification in Biomedical Research. Educating Students for the Future of Healthcare

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is changing how medicine is practiced and how physicians are trained. Since tools like ChatGPT became widely available in 2022, every medical school has had to wrestle with the same “educators’ dilemma:” How do we prepare students for an AI-integrated health system without weakening their independent thinking and clinical reasoning?

At CCLCM, we didn’t ignore that dilemma. Rather, we started studying it, publishing on it and designing practical solutions that we could test and refine over time. Many of our projects are early-stage or conceptual, but they are already shaping how medical schools around the world think about GenAI and medical education.

Explore the ways we’re integrating GenAI into medical education.
