Layout Specifications

Below are layout specifications of many common Cleveland Clinic brand communications. When designing materials, follow these specifications as closely as possible and refer to the examples for guidance on the placement of the visual elements.

Standard finished sizes

• Letter – 8 ½” X 11”
• Legal – 8 ½” X 14”
• Slim Jim – 4″ x 9″
• Medium sized brochure – Folded 6″ x 9″ or 5 ½” x 8 ½”
• Postcards – 4 1/4″ x 6″ , 6″ x 9″
• Invitations / Physician Announcements / Panel Card Invitation – 5″ x 7″ with A7 envelope
• Folders – 9” x 12”

Layout Specifications: 8½” x 11” Grid

The exhibit demonstrates basic grid specifications for standard letter formats. When designing communications in this format, follow these specifications as closely as possible.

Please note: The Cleveland Clinic Grid is based on 3 equal bands that divide the top half of the page into thirds. When a single band is used, the logo is always vertically centered in the middle of the band. If two bands are used, the logo is always vertically centered in the top band.
