Dr. Wheeler recently joined the Department of Vascular Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. Dr. Wheeler comes to Main Campus from the Cleveland Clinic Weston location. Dr. Wheeler was born and raised in the South, completing his undergraduate studies in biology, chemistry and medical humanities at the University of South Carolina Honors College. He graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2011 with a doctorate in medicine and a master’s degree in clinical and translational Research. Afterward, Dr. Wheeler continued to pursue his interest in academic research at the Medical University of South Carolina in the College of Graduate Studies, completing a master’s degree in laboratory biomedical sciences and a fellowship in clinical and translational research ethics in 2016. He then completed his internal medicine residency and vascular medicine fellowship training at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
Dr. Wheeler has written multiple scientific journal articles and book chapters on his basic and translational research in vascular physiology. He is board-certified in internal medicine and vascular medicine and is a certified Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. His clinical interests include pulmonary embolism, DVT, anticoagulation management, cancer-associated thrombosis, COVID-related thrombosis, immune-related thrombotic thrombocytopenia, fibromuscular dysplasia, aortic aneurysms, lymphedema, lipedema, obesity, peripheral arterial disease, carotid stenosis, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, varicose veins, and peripheral venous interventions. Dr. Wheeler is also an avid teacher, having been recognized by multiple societies for patient and student education as a clinical instructor with the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland.

I am very lucky to have gotten Dr Wheeler as my vascular peripheral doctor, since he is the first doctor to provide me with the means to help reduce the edema/lymphedema in my legs. By his ordering a pneumatic leg pump to reduce the swelling on my legs, it has helped to eliminate my leg's skin degradation, which was causing leg wounds. For this, I'm very grateful to him.

Everyone that helped me at the Cleveland Clinic was great, but Dr. Jason Wheeler is extraordinary and someone that I will remember for a long time. He answered every question before I had to ask. He knew my worries and concerns and gave me the comfort that I needed during my health crisis. His patient care/bedside manner approach made me feel so comfortable, like I was talking to a friend. I was finally able to meet Dr. Wheeler after not being able to meet him initially in 2021, when CCF assigned me to Dr. Celestin who ended up being my attending physician and guided me through my DVT, varicose veins and leg pain issues. Now that I have met Dr. Wheeler, I am extremely happy to have him as my attending physician. I was impressed with Dr. Wheeler's knowledge and experience. His obvious commitment to continued study and being up to date in his field of expertise gives one a sense of security and protection that is essential in a patient / doctor relatioship. I only hope that you are able to keep him on staff and he does not also choose to leave CCF.

Dr Wheeler is one of a kind. I have never dealt with a doctor who is more passionate about his practice. He goes out of his way to explain to you his diagnosis and gives all your question his full attention, making sure that you understood his explanation. Dr Wheeler's personality makes you feel that you are dealing with a very knowledgeable friend.all around wonderful doctor's visit.
