Biography
Sarah Coulson, RD, is a Registered Dietitian at Cleveland Clinic Canada. Collaborating with our team of interdisciplinary health professionals in the Executive Health program, she provides her patients with comprehensive nutrition assessments, counseling and follow-up care. She works with her patients to educate them on nutrition management skills and techniques as well as collaborates with them on practical strategies that will assist them to achieve their nutrition-related objectives and goals. When she is not seeing patients at Cleveland Clinic Canada, she is nurturing her own nutrition consulting business, NOSH Nutrition.
After receiving her Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree from the Food and Nutrition program at the University of Western Ontario and completing her clinical internship, she began her journey and career in nutrition practicing as a Registered Dietitian at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital in Windsor, Ontario. This role provided her with the clinical foundation and experience to take the next ten years to refine her skills and expertise, working in different healthcare environments including acute and ambulatory care, homecare and wellness clinics. Her experience is diverse and includes working in general medicine, surgery, cardiac care, renal, intensive care, neurology, diabetes and weight management programs. She has also worked on several projects that developed nutritional standards of care and educational patient resources. Her passion is preventative health and wellness, specifically weight management and the associated metabolic complications of obesity such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Ms. Coulson is an active member of several professional associations which include Dietitians of Canada, College of Dietitians of Ontario, Canadian Diabetes Association, and Canadian Obesity network. She has presented as a guest speaker at numerous events during her career and has been involved in many nutrition-related articles for web and print publications including Best Health, Chill, Chatelaine and most recently The Kit.
Ms Coulson considers Sunderland, Ontario her hometown. Sarah’s philosophy is ‘food first’ and she encourages local, sustainable eating and supports the local food movement. Her interests include navigating Ontario’s Northern backcountry; anywhere her road bike will take her; and the synergy of food and friends.
