Biography

Alan Bell, MD, is an Executive Health Physician at Cleveland Clinic Canada. Dr. Bell obtained his Doctor of Medicine and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto and has been practicing family medicine for over four decades. In addition to his clinical work, he’s a founding member and past vice president on the board of directors of Thrombosis Canada.

Dr. Bell has co-authored five national guidelines for the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, acting as co-chair on two. He is also a co-author of the Canadian Hypertension Guidelines and past member of the Hypertension Canada board of directors.

His research interests include osteoporosis, diabetes, nephrology, heart failure, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, thrombosis, and delivery of care, with over 50 peer reviewed publications.

He has been nominated by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for Family Physician of the year and is a recipient of their Award of Excellence.

When Dr. Bell is not seeing patients, he enjoys cycling, downhill skiing, and cabinet making.
