Biography

Rifat Jaffer, OD, is an Optometrist at Cleveland Clinic Canada. Dr. Jaffer has over 20 years of experience in the optometric field and provides primary care with a special interest in contact lenses.

Dr. Jaffer obtained her Bachelor of Science before going on to receive a Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo. During this time, she was honoured with the NSERC Clinical Research Award and completed her externship at the Eye Foundation of Utah, a multi-specialty ocular disease clinic. She has received specialized training and experience in prosthetic contact lens fitting and hard-to-fit contact lenses such as toric, multifocal and keratoconus in both soft and rigid gas permeable materials. She has also earned her Fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry in 2004.

Dr. Jaffer has been involved in clinical investigational studies for CIBA and Allergan and served as a clinical examiner with the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.  She practiced in both New York and California before relocating to Toronto. She is a member of the Canadian Optometric Association and the Ontario Optometric Association.

When she’s not treating patients, Dr. Jaffer enjoys swimming, playing the piano and hiking with her husband and two daughters.
