Biography

Joan Mlynarczyk is a physiotherapist at Cleveland Clinic Canada working with our multidisciplinary sports health team.

Ms. Mlynarczyk has an impressive educational background. She first graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical and Health Education. She continued her education in Indiana, completing her Master of Arts in Physical Education. She then returned to Toronto to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and Doctor of Philosophy in Exercise Sciences (biomechanics) at the University of Toronto (UofT).

With decades of expertise, Ms. Mlynarczyk brings a wealth of knowledge from her work in a wide variety of clinics across Toronto, including UofT's David L. MacIntosh Sports Medicine Clinic. For the past 20 years, she successfully owned and operated her own physiotherapy practice in the Yonge and Davisville area.

Ms. Mlynarczyk’s career highlights include working with the Toronto Raptors, Canadian Men's Gymnastics Team, and providing pre-launch physiotherapy to astronaut Roberta Bondar for 12 months. However, her true passion lies in supporting Canada’s Women’s Basketball Teams at international events over the years. She has proudly assisted them at four Olympic Games (Barcelona, Sydney, London, and Rio), two Pan Am Games, and countless World Championships and qualifying tournaments around the globe.

When she’s not with patients, Ms. Mlynarczyk enjoys being immersed in the wild—on foot, by boat, or sometimes by plane—seeking out the raw beauty of nature. She also is a passionate wildlife photographer.
