Biography

Joo Hyung Yoon, MD, is a Sports Medicine Physician at Cleveland Clinic Canada.

After completing his Bachelor of Health Sciences at McMaster University, Dr. Yoon obtained his Doctor of Medicine and completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of Toronto. With his interest in treating athletic injuries, he pursued his Fellowship in Sport and Exercise Medicine at Toronto and has also obtained his diploma from the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine.

Dr. Yoon has a strong interest in providing care for various musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoarthritis, tendon and ligament injuries. He employs a comprehensive individualized approach to these concerns through prescribing a combination of physiotherapy, bracing, and injection-based interventions such as corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid, and platelet rich plasma (PRP). When required, Dr. Yoon provides precision ultrasound guided injections.

Dr. Yoon is involved with Canada Basketball and has been the traveling team physician for the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) U19 World Cup and FIBA U17 World Cup. He has experience providing medical coverage for teams locally at University of Toronto and several national and international events such as the BioSteel All Canadian Basketball Games, Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Soccer National Championships, and International Skating Union World Synchronized Skating Championships.

When he’s not treating patients, Dr. Yoon enjoys climbing, weight training, travelling and spending time with friends and family.
