Alyssa Banninga is a Nurse Practitioner at Cleveland Clinic Canada. Ms. Banninga has over 12 years of experience providing primary care to patients across the lifespan in both in-person and virtual settings. She assesses and manages acute episodic concerns and chronic conditions, with particular interests in women’s health, health promotion, disease prevention, and improving access to primary health care. She is skilled in conducting comprehensive health assessments, interpreting diagnostic testing, coordinating referrals, and supporting patients in managing their health.
Ms. Banninga obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Western Ontario before completing her Master of Nursing at the University of Toronto, and her Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate at Toronto Metropolitan University. She began her nursing career in community and long-term care settings before working in pediatric inpatient care at North York General Hospital and providing nursing care in oral and maxillofacial surgery. In 2014, she began working as a Nurse Practitioner at the London InterCommunity Health Centre before joining Chatham-Kent Family Health Team providing primary care. She also provided virtual primary care and symptom assessment.
Ms. Banninga is committed to providing accessible, patient-centred care, and support for health promotion and disease prevention across diverse populations. Her clinical experience includes caring for children and families, individuals experiencing mental health and addictions concerns, newcomers and refugees, low-income individuals and families, and patients managing chronic conditions. She values interdisciplinary collaboration and has contributed to nursing education through clinical instruction, and teaching in emergency nursing.
When she is not treating patients, Ms. Banninga enjoys spending time with friends and family, travelling, cooking, golfing, and taking part in a variety of sports and outdoor activities. She also loves going on adventures with her spouse and their dog.
