With Express Care Online, you and your family can quickly receive virtual care from a skilled Cleveland Clinic Canada healthcare provider. Your membership in this service allows you to quickly get medical advice, diagnoses, prescriptions and specialist referrals — all from the comfort of your home, work or anywhere else in Canada.
Express Care Online is secure and easy to use — with no appointment needed. This service is available 24/7 across Canada. In Quebec, it’s available daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST.
With Express Care Online, you can receive the following virtual care services at the discretion of your provider:
- Diagnoses for a variety of non-emergency conditions (see full list below)
- Prescriptions (new and refills)
- Referrals to specialists
- Requisitions for blood work and imaging, like X-rays, ultrasounds and CT scans
- Mental health support
Enhance your care
Enhance your virtual care service with TytoHome™. This easy-to-use, Health Canada-approved remote medical exam kit helps you get an accurate, high-quality examination. With TytoHome, your online provider can remotely review your heart rate and temperature, examine your throat and ears — and listen to your heart, lungs and belly. This can give you the chance to have a more thorough and precise remote examination and reduce the need for an in-person visit.
How Do I Get Started?
Express Care Online is available for both adults and children. You can sign up for it as an individual or for your whole family. When you purchase your annual membership, select how many people you want to include and their ages.
- Individual: For one person aged 17 or older
- Additional adult: Add another adult in your family aged 17 or older
- Additional child: Add a child in your family aged 0 to 16 years old

Ear, nose & throat conditions
Our team can diagnose and treat multiple problems — including infections — affecting your:

From eye pain and infections to other vision concerns, our team has the diagnosis and care you need.
Forms & letters (travel, school, work, etc.)
If you or a family member has been ill and out of work or school for up to three days, we can provide a return-to-work (school) note. We can also provide documentation if you’ve been absent for up to one week for mental health concerns (stress leave). Additional fees may apply.
Heart & lung conditions
Our providers can diagnose, treat or refer for non-emergency care for heart and lung conditions, including:
- Non-sudden (non-acute) chest pain, palpitations or shortness of breath
- High blood pressure, cholesterol and peripheral artery disease screenings
- Allergic rhinitis (hay fever)
- Asthma, COPD and bronchiectasis flare-ups
- Illnesses like croup, bronchitis, pneumonia, flu, COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)
Immunizations & medications
Our team can help you get updated vaccines or immunization records for work, school or travel. We can also renew your regular medications for up to six months.
Mental health concerns
Need someone to talk to? Is your stress feeling too heavy? Our providers can treat or make referrals to help you with:

Preventive care, testing & lab work
Our providers don't just treat illness — our team also offers preventive healthcare with services like:

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can use Express Care Online?
Express Care Online is available to you and your immediate family. This includes your spouse or common-law partner and dependent children/stepchildren/foster children under age 25. Children between ages 17 and 25 must be attending an accredited college or university as full-time students to qualify for care under a family membership.
Children younger than 17 years can be added to your account on the Express Care Online app when you’re registering them for a virtual visit. Your spouse, common-law partner or dependents between ages 17 and 25 will need to create separate profiles.
What requests can be met on Express Care Online?
Your virtual provider can:
- Write or refill prescriptions (except for narcotic pain medications and benzodiazepines)
- Refer you to a specialist
- Provide sick notes for work or school
- Order lab work and/or imaging
Who are Express Care Online’s providers?
When you have an Express Care Online visit, you’ll see one of our credentialled nurse practitioners. Nurse practitioners have a master’s degree or post-graduate certificate and are authorized to:
- Make diagnoses
- Order and interpret medical tests
- Prescribe and refill medications
- Offer other treatment recommendations
What can I expect from a virtual care assessment?
One of our nurse practitioners will do your assessment during a video consultation. You can expect to talk about your condition, any symptoms you’re experiencing and your medical history. If they decide you need a more in-depth evaluation, they may request you use TytoHome™ diagnostic tools — if you have access to them.
If our team is unable to make a diagnosis through the virtual assessment or suspects you may have a potentially life-threatening condition, we will swiftly refer you for an in-person evaluation.
Can I access mental health specialists?
Our Express Care Online providers can offer initial mental health support when needed and connect you to our network of social workers, psychologists and psychotherapists. We can help you get the care you need as quickly as possible.
Can I use Express Care Online when I travel?
Your Express Care Online membership covers any virtual healthcare needs you may have when traveling within Canada.
Can I use Virtual Care for a second opinion?
If you’re seeking a second opinion for a complex or serious condition, we recommend using our Virtual Second Opinion service.
Is my information secure and confidential?
Yes. Express Care Online complies with all patient information regulations. Each virtual visit uses secure technology to encrypt all communication over the internet. Your medical records also remain confidential.
What if I experience technical difficulties during my virtual visit?
