May Lee, MSW, RSW, B.Sc. Psych (Hons) is a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist, and a member of Cleveland Clinic Canada’s mental health team.

Ms. Lee holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from York University and a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. She has also completed specialized training in trauma-informed care, vocational rehabilitation and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

Ms. Lee has extensive clinical experience supporting individuals, families, and children across marginalized communities with trauma, addiction, homelessness, and violence. Her experience includes working with diverse populations facing anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, substance use, family violence, workplace injury, and complex psychosocial challenges. She is a trauma-informed therapist who draws on a range of evidence-based approaches to support her clients, including EMDR, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, somatic experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and Family Constellations.

Ms. Lee chose social work because of her passion for helping individuals heal from trauma and live healthy and happy lives. Her previous clinical experience includes providing treatment to children, youth, adults, and professionals, including first responders and healthcare workers who experienced trauma. She has worked extensively in community mental health and social service organizations throughout York Region and the Greater Toronto Area, including roles focused on anti-human trafficking, family reconciliation and children’s mental health. Ms. Lee also has experience supporting organizational leaders in strengthening trauma-informed care systems through education, consultation, and program development initiatives. She has supervised social work students and trained frontline staff to increase their team’s clinical capacity and reduce burnout.

Passionate about creating successful programs, Ms. Lee has developed and facilitated several practical and effective mental health programs. She was recruited to create a holistic after-school program for at-risk youth, along with trauma programs for children who have been sexually exploited. Ms. Lee also facilitates mental health education classes for working professionals who want to increase their mental health literacy and sense of connection.

When she is not seeing clients, Ms. Lee enjoys sitting in stillness, hiking in the forest, doing yoga and gymnastics, and spending time with animals.
