Advanced Endoscopy Procedures We Perform
Minimally invasive endoscopy can prevent major surgery for many digestive diseases. Our gastroenterologists have specialized training in these procedures, providing maximum safety and the clearest results. Procedures offered at our center include:

Balloon enteroscopy
Our specialists provide double balloon enteroscopy. These procedures allow us to diagnose bleeding, polyps (non-cancerous growths) or tumors in the small intestine. When needed, we combine balloon enteroscopy with a biopsy (tissue sample) so you don’t need a separate procedure.
Cholangioscopy
Our specialists guide a fiberoptic or digital endoscope down your throat and into your bile ducts during cholangioscopy. Our gastroenterologists use cholangioscopy to diagnose:

Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR)
This minimally invasive procedure can remove cancerous growths from the digestive tract without removing the entire organ. Our specialists use EMR to remove esophageal and gastric cancers.
Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD)
Similar to EMR, endoscopic submucosal dissection removes tumors in the esophagus, stomach and duodenum without the use of external incisions. The recovery is easier and faster than traditional surgery.
Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
We use a combination of cholangioscopy and X-rays during ERCP to detect diseases that aren’t visible with cholangioscopy alone. Using these images, we diagnose conditions that affect your bile ducts, gallbladder and pancreas.
Our specialists also use ERCP with Cholangioscopy technology, which uses a tiny, highly detailed camera. The combination of ERCP with Cholangioscopy allows our team to view the smallest pancreatic ducts that aren’t visible with other methods.
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
Endoscopic ultrasound uses sound waves to take pictures inside the digestive tract. EUS provides much more detail than an ultrasound on the outside of your body.
Our gastroenterologists use EUS to view the esophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver, bile ducts and colon. With our experience, we diagnose and treat many cancerous and non-cancerous conditions without open surgery. We use EUS to:
- Determine if digestive cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes.
- Evaluate the stage of colorectal, esophageal, pancreatic and stomach cancers.
- Identify pancreatic cysts or chronic pancreatitis.
- Take biopsies (samples) of growths in your digestive system.
- View your bile ducts, gallbladder and liver to check for tumors or blockages.
Per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM)
We were the first in South Florida to perform several procedures for gastrointestinal conditions, including:
- POEM to treat achalasia.
- Gastric peroral endoscopic myotomy (G-POEM) or peroral pyloromyotomy (POP) for gastroparesis.
- Z-POEM to treat Zenker’s diverticulum.
During these endoscopic procedures, our specialists use an endoscope to cut the muscle of the esophagus, stomach or the Zenker’s diverticulum. These treatments allow food to move into and out of the esophagus or out of the stomach more quickly and easily.
