Our Graduate Medical Education program is aimed at helping our residents develop the skills necessary for excellence in medical practice. This is partly achieved by providing unique research opportunities. The Research Faculty and staff at Cleveland Clinic Akron General strive to create a scholarly environment that incorporates the principles of collaboration, education, efficiency, and productivity. Our Faculty and staff view research as an extension of your education while at Akron General. To this end, while engaging in scholarly activity of any type at Akron General, you will have access to knowledgeable, friendly individuals who will provide guidance every step of the way.

Each training program has its own scholarly requirements and each resident faces his/her own set of unique challenges in meeting these requirements. As such, doctoral-prepared Research Faculty can work with you on a one-to-one basis so that you not only successfully meet your scholarly requirements, but also reach a level of proficiency in all aspects of the research process.

At Akron General, residents have opportunities to present their research both locally and nationally. The Akron General Scientific Session, held annually, is an excellent opportunity for residents to showcase their research and explore potential collaborations. Additionally, in recent years, our resident research has been accepted for presentation at conferences such as: National American College of Physicians (ACP), American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American College of Surgeons (ACS) Clinical Congress, World Robotic Gynecologic Congress, Annual Society of Maternal and Fetal Medicine Conference and many others.
